“The proof of the pudding is in the eating!” – award-winning voiceover artist Bethan Dixon Bate describes her Studiobricks booth

20th April 2022

I took too long deciding to buy my Studiobricks booth, worried about the investment and the fact I live in a one bed ground floor flat so it would have to live with us in the sitting room. Three years later and I just love it and can’t imagine how I managed in my pre-booth days when I had to stop recording if the birds were in particularly enthusiastic song, when planes flew over the garden or when my neighbour took a lively Skype call.

Now I happily narrate audiobooks uninterrupted and no longer alarm my neighbours when dying twenty different times in a video game, I can look out through the wonderful glass door and see the birds in the garden not hearing a tweet and watch the planes pass silently over head.

My  experience with Black Cat Music was wonderfully smooth too, they were fabulously accommodating about me picking the booth up myself and were always available to answer endless questions from an initially nervous customer.

I’ve had a few successes career-wise since buying the voice over booth too, winning a VOX award in 2018 for best female voice performer and in 2000 a One Voice Award and a SOVAS award both for best female animation – all for work recorded in the booth. The proof of the pudding in in the eating!

Bethan recently won the SOVAS and One Voice awards for her narration of The Curious Child:
